hello! I’m Avery Reed, an illustrator based in midcoast Maine. Each of my illustrations, patterns, and stories celebrates the beauty of the natural world and the laughter of children. Drawn to images of the ocean, garden, and forest, I approach these subjects with the same enthusiasm as my eight-year-old self once built fairy houses and scavenged the rocky coast for seaglass.

I limit myself to three distinct color palettes, which allows me to play with shape, form, and repetition. And while I do arrange my work into collections, it can be mixed and matched again and again and again, perfect for wrapping paper, fabrics, and stationery. My products are small-batch and made in the U.S.

I hold a BA in Media, Culture, and the Arts from The King’s College and an MFA in Illustration from the Fashion Institute of Technology. I work on editorial pieces, children’s books, pattern design, and special commissions, and sell my work in local shops and online.
